Volunteer Research iNternship at Berry College
After discussing my biology career aspirations with my AP biology teacher, I was recommended to a college advisor at Berry. After an interview, I was given the opportunity to work in a college laboratory over the summer conducting research on parasitic plant and host relationships. While working with college students was intimidating at first, the experience ultimately taught me to be honest when I didn't understand something. Additionally, the experience made me appreciate how science can bring such a wide array of people together to solve a problem, fueling my passions to work in a laboratory setting in the future.

STEM Outreach at Boys and Girls Club: Program Founder and coordinator
Combining my passions for working with children and STEM, I initiated a partnership between our high school and the local Boys and Girls Club. Twice a month I visit the club with a hands-on STEM activity in the hopes of exposing the children to science at an early age so that they can build confidence to pursue STEM later in life.
Study abroad trip in Alaska
During the summer of my freshman year, I attended a week-long study abroad trip to Alaksa with my Magnet Program. Although the experience was intimidating at first, I quickly learned to open up to others, forming relationships that I still maintain to this day. Additionally, Alaska fueled my passion for biology; with its practically untouched natural landscape, Alaska provides the perfect location to understand the natural world.
